Free kids bowling

Last year we signed up all our kids (18 and under) for the free bowling and my kids had a great time. It is a program put on by All Star Lanes and allows the kids 2 games of bowling free from May 15- Aug 31. It's absolutely free to bowl but you will either need your own bowling shoes or you can rent them there. They also had a deal where you buy a 'shoe pass' for $16.00 that gave you rentals for the whole summer.
I watched for bowling shoes at the DI and found enough pairs for our family. They do have to be actual bowling shoes for them to allow you to use them on their floors. Regular shoes leave an oil on the floor that ruins their floor and makes it harder for those after you to bowl.
They also have an adult pass that goes with the kids bowl. For $24.95 you can have 2 games per day all summer for no additional cost. It's good for 4 adults.
Here's the link to sign up. You have to pick which location is closest to you. kidsbowlfree dot com (if the link doesn't work type this in your browser)

Let me know if you have questions. Hopefully it's something I can answer. LOL

Cooking class

Lately my kids are really interested in learning how to cook and bake. I'm
thinking about offering a cooking class this summer, starting in June and
running for 6-8 weeks. I'd like for my kids to make some friends in the
area. Each week we'll learn about different types of foods and different
techniques and actually cook something start to finish and the eat it. I'm
thinking 6-10 year olds. There will be a minimum cost to cover the
ingredients but I'll keep it as low as possible, this is just about
learning and making friends. We live in an apartment so the class can't be
too big. Anyway, the idea is just coming together so if you're interested
in more info email me and let me know and I'll keep you updated. We live in
West Jordan, on New Bingham Highway.

Presentation by local author TONIGHT

EC Stilson is the author of the Amazon Best-Seller "The Golden Sky" and the newly released YA Fantasy book "The Mersons and the Sword of Senack". She is a local author from Davis County and has given many presentations in elementary schools on writing, following your dreams and becoming an author. I asked her if she would be willing to give the presentation for the home educating community and she graciously accepted! The presentation will be at my home in Syracuse and if the weather is nice it will be held outside; so please dress accordingly. If the weather does not hold out for us we will bring it inside though it may be a tiny bit crowded. This will be held on Wednesday April 25th at 6:30pm. Please RSVP to let me know you will be coming, the ages of your kids and for my address. Thank you!

Field Trip to Rio Tinto Stadium

HI Everyone,
I am working out the details for the tour of Rio Tinto Stadium and Real Salt Lake game. The date I have in mind is for July 7, 2012.

The tour of the stadium tickets are $10 and include vouchers to a game. (We would be using them that night, but those of you who can't make it to game night can use them another night.)

I am working on doing the tour of the stadium, hold a tailgate party, and going to the game all on the same day. These tickets would be approximately $30 per person for the whole day events. (Price depends on how many will be attending & Menu.) I will get the final cost out to you as soon as possible.

Can you let me know how many in your family are planning on attending, and if you would like just the tour of the stadium, or if you want the tour & tailgate package. I would like to get a general idea of how many people are wanting to come. The prices are for everyone 3 and older.

Thanks Everyone! This is going to be so much fun!

Homeschool Freebie of the Day

http://www.homeschoolfreebie.wholesomechildhood.com/
This is a great site!  Get on their email list, & they'll send you an email at the beginning of the week of the upcoming freebies.  These could be audios, PDF's, videos, links to sites.  Every weekday during the school year they have something new.  Most downloads are only available that day though, so you do have to stay on top of it.
Once in a while they do send an email selling a collection of some of their stuff (such as audios).  But my experience has been these are minimal, & well worth getting for the amount of free stuff you can download.
