All of the information about entering to win can be found at Mormon Moms.

Thanks to Your LDS Radio - we are able to offer this to you!  You might want to check out the wonderful things that they are doing.  I didn't really know much about them until this week.  I'm impressed with the wonderful resources that they have to share.

With 3 teenagers myself - I know that our youth need to be taught truth and to be strengthened against the storms.  I appreciate those who are trying to do that.

Spaulding Method of Music - Wonderful!

This message is from Damian Spaulding founder of The Spaulding School of Music and the "Spaulding Method". His desire is to add to the success of home school parents and their children!!!

He says:
I have been teaching music for over 20 years  from a completely unique perspective.  I do not bind students to a rigid approach and force them to learn songs that do not inspire them.  Instead I have created a process that enables the student to learn any instrument "by ear" through a plan that is in large part driven and customized by them.  I have now migrated this process to work perfectly in an online home school environment where I can either teach the parents how to teach their
children, or teach the children directly.  The decision is truly up to the parent and how they would like to experience the process.
More information can be found here;
I have been told by numerous home school parents that my approach has been invaluable for how their children naturally learn and I look forward to impacting more lives with your permission. Spaces are very limited as all instruction is done one-on-one with me personally.

Also: Through my method, religious individuals can learn music through their preferred selection of music. With the child directed approach that we also employ, learners that regularly do not learn well in a standard instructional setting tend to excel. The proof is in my testimonials page.

LDS Homeschool Conference - August 10th and 11th, 2012 - BEAUTIFUL ARTICLE

Article by Tresta K. Neil -

As a young homeschool mother my faith in myself, my abilities and in my Savior were greatly increased by my friend and mentor LuJean Livingston. Each month a few of us would sit at her feet and listen as she unfolded the mystery of how to teach our children at home. She would quote the prophets, read from the scriptures, unveil a beautiful new piece of art, sing hymns and tell stories. She brought in guests who taught us about music, art and math. She had mothers share their homeschool experiences in literature and language, history and geography. LuJean could, almost magically, take one word and add life, understanding and beauty to it. I looked forward to each month, each new nugget of knowledge and understanding; I longed for the spirit I felt there. My understanding and faith grew tremendously during those years. I gained the confidence in my ability to teach my children and gained a true education for myself along the way.

ART CAMP - NEXT WEEK (for a good cause)

This post is by permission.  We're very sorry for any misunderstandings as to previous posts.

"Art is not a study of positive reality, it is the seeking for ideal truth."  ~John Ruskin
We (Summer Price and Alyssa Hokanson) are holding a week-long art class where our students will be taught a wide variety of techniques, mediums and models. They will be introduced to many different kinds of art- from modern to classic. Our students will be able to test their hand at their own projects and find out for themselves which is their favorite. We will teach them many techniques- from cartoon strips to plants and animals. We will teach them about drawing from different perspectives and help them find what comes most naturally to them.
Our class will be held June 11-15th. You can choose between a morning (younger) or afternoon (older) class. Each class is 3 hours long, Monday through Friday.
Morning: 9am-12pm ages 8-10
Afternoon: 1pm-4pm ages10-12

Students who would like to attend that DO NOT fit into an age range or cannot attend when their age is being taught, please email us and they will probably be Able to attend (the age range is a general guideline).

A favorite Children's book

In a house full of wonderful books, this book has been the most requested one from all the kids. I love it's message. The child presents different scenarios (such as if I broke the window with a baseball), would you still love me? The parent explains the consequences of each action, & then assures the child that they would of course still love them. The book ends with the parent asking the child if they make rules (tied into the story such as not letting them throw the baseball at the window), would the child still love the parent.
This book has prompted so many conversations with the kids. It seems to really reassure them that no matter what they do, while there will be consequences, they will still be loved. Out of my hundreds of picture books, this is one of the few "must have's".
It is currently only $.69 used on amazon!

Kindle raffle for fundraising

Fundraising for a little-boy from Latvia.   He has Cerebral Palsy.. Spastic Quadraparesis... and is in need of being evaluated at Shriner's Hospital. As they can only evaluate him this time, any treatment he needs will need to be done in December. There is still quite a bit of money I need to fundraise, and I really dislike feeling like I am hounding all of you! If anyone has successfully fundraised large sums of money... say for something like this, or adoption, let me know. I need to branch out a bit but I don't know a lot of people. I don't have a lot of family, none really in Utah, and none that can (or wants) to help. I'm on my own with this one! My ears are very open to great ideas!

Right now I am doing a "raffle" for a Kindle and an American Girl doll. It is $5/ticket, and you can choose which raffle you would like to be in. I am doing this until Saturday. If you all could pass this along I would appreciate it! The raffle is on my blog, here:

FreedomProject Education - Online Open house June 7th

From a local homeschooling mom: "We tried the Latin class from this school. It was very good. My son enjoyed it a lot. The cost is low for a private school."

Freedom Project Education

Where the American education system has dropped the ball on teaching the constitutional basics, JBS affiliate, the American Opinion Foundation, picks up. It has successfully created a Pre-K to Grade 12 online curriculum through FreedomProject Education (FPE).

To help create the educated electorate that founder Robert Welch envisioned as the solution to America's ills, "Teaching students how to think and not what to think" is a motto painted on the sides of both of FPE's vans now seen regularly crisscrossing the country attending 50+ conventions this year.

Free Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches

I am getting to many roaches for the size of tank that I have. I am wondering if anyone is interested in having some as pets. The kids love them. They are easy to care for and are interesting to watch and learn about. You need a tank, some substrate like cocoa fiber, and some bark or leaf litter for them to hide under. They live for about 2 years. They eat vegetables, fruits, eggshells, and dog or cat food pellets. They are tropical and thrive in a humid environment. They do not have wings like regular cockroaches. You have to mist their cage every few days with a water bottle. They make a loud hissing noise when disturbed that thrills the kids. Let me know if anyone is interested. You can have them for free.

Still need lots of host families for Japanese exchange

I am forwarding this email – see below - for Lisa and the Japanese exchange program. They really need help this year finding homes for these kids. Please help by either hosting a student or by passing this email on to others who might be able to host. It is an easy and fun program. Just to recap, this is what host families would be committing to:

-pick the student up on July 24th - in Clearfield

-keep them safe and as happy as possible - just doing whatever you would normally do as a family - give them a place to sleep - take them with as you would your other kids - feed them what you eat - you don't have to plan anything special - you just fit them in with whatever you would be doing anyway
